The GALEAS Bladder test requires a urine sample and can be done at home.

The simple home test that could be 'amazing' for bladder cancer patients

Trevor Field knows how uncomfortable tests for bladder cancer can be.

In the 13 years since the 81-year-old was diagnosed, he has had more cystoscopies than he can count.

The procedure involves inserting a camera into the bladder and he has to have these every six to 12 months, to make sure his cancer has not returned.

Bowel screening celebrates 20th anniversary and goes from strength-to-strength

This month marks 20 years since the start of the national bowel screening programme - and it all started in the West Midlands at Rugby’s Hospital of St Cross.

Since then, more than 22 million samples returned by people in the Midlands and North West region have been logged, analysed and reported.

UHNM launch first cancer care clinic in the West Midlands

University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) has launched the first community-based clinic to provide cancer treatment closer to home.

The clinic, developed with West Midlands Cancer Alliance, provides systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) and other specialist infusion services in a community setting, helping to ease pressure on hospital services while improving the patient experience.

The Brain Tumour Charity has launched Headsmart GP, an evidence-based toolkit for primary care teams.

It is being piloted in the West Midlands and is endorsed by the West Midlands Cancer Alliance.Every year, 13,000 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour in the UK.
