Spotlight on Prostate Health for Black Men: An interactive Guide for Primary Care in the West Midlands

Prostate cancer disproportionately affects Black men, who are more likely to develop the disease at a younger age and experience higher mortality due to later diagnosis.

GP practices across the West Midlands are uniquely positioned to change this story - by identifying men at higher risk, starting timely and culturally sensitive conversations, and supporting early detection through PSA testing.

Data is being collected to help us measure participation across the GPs and PCNs in the West Midlands and evidence whether the activity is increasing awareness amongst Black men. Can you please complete this form - Prostate GP Toolkit - uptake form  – Fill out form

This interactive toolkit has been created to help primary care teams take practical, informed action. Through the clickable widgets, you can easily explore key sections that offer tailored clinical guidance, step-by-step actions for your practice, and communication tools to help you engage confidently with patients and communities. You’ll also find awareness campaign materials, real patient stories, best practice examples from across primary care, and a range of ready-to-use resources to support your work.

Whether you’re looking for quick reference information, educational opportunities for your team, or local contacts for further support, this toolkit brings everything together in one place - helping practices across the West Midlands work collectively towards earlier diagnosis, better outcomes, and reduced health inequalities for Black men.
