Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT)

The Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) Expert Advisory Group (EAG) was set-up to act as an expert consultative body on issues related to the delivery of SACT across the West Midlands.

The SACT EAG currently meet on a bi-monthly basis with the main initial aim of developing supportive care guidelines. Several workshop days have been held to enable thorough discussion and analysis of literature to support the development of these guidelines, which are now close to completion. The group also discuss any major issues currently facing SACT services in the West Midlands, along with cancer targets and dissemination of ideas and evidence based current best practice.

Co-chairs:

Samantha Toland, Nurse Consultant in Cancer Care and Lead SACT Nurse, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust

Lynn Ansell, Cancer Services Clinical Pharmacy Operations Lead, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust

Deputy Chair: Dr Vanessa Potter, Consultant Medical Oncologist, University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust

Recent EAG activity:

On 23 February 2024, Pan Alliances Breast Group held an event in London called Systemic Anti-Cancer Services Best Practice & Innovation: Sharing and Learning, which was attended by 21 Cancer Alliances from across the UK. If you would like to find out more about the event, as well as access resources and presentations given by the speakers that day, please visit East of England Cancer Alliance - Pan Alliances Breast Cancer Group.
