Expert Advisory Groups

The West Midlands Cancer Alliance (WMCA) provides support to Expert Advisory Groups (EAGs).

The EAGs overall aims are to provide specialist advice and guidance to the WMCA Board on the standards of service for patients with cancer reflecting Improving Outcomes Guidance (IOG) recommendations, current best practice and opportunities for development.

Expert Advisory Group Chairs

The Chairs of the Expert Advisory Groups meet every six months to discuss common themes, share best practice and clinical experience from each tumour group. The current performance and transformation updates are discussed with the group to seek comment and input to facilitate delivery.

The group is also attended by the Chair of the Cancer Trust managers and Lead Nurses so that the two way learning and understanding can be gleaned and acted upon. Membership has been extended to include the Expert Advisory Groups Deputy Chairs as they too are pivotal in achieving the cancer strategy.

WMCA EAG Recruitment

We're currently in the process of recruiting to vacancies for the following Expert Advisory Groups (EAG’s):

  • Deputy Chair – Haematology
  • Deputy Chair – Head and Neck
  • Deputy Chair – Gynaecology

We are looking for candidates based on the following criteria:

  • Ability to deliver national and regional work programme obligations
  • Demonstrable collaborative working with West Midlands Cancer Alliance
  • Experience with service change at scale
  • Credibility as a Cancer specialist in the West Midlands region
  • Regular attendance at EAGs or member of a Task and Finish group
  • Must be a current member of the West Midlands EAG group.
