Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK. Around 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime, rising to approximately 1 in 4 Black men. Significant inequalities persist in awareness, access to assessment, diagnosis, treatment and outcomes, with Black men more likely to develop prostate cancer at a younger age and at a higher risk than other population groups. Improving early detection and ensuring equitable access to care are therefore essential priorities for healthcare professionals.
This lunchtime webinar will provide a practical update on the early detection of prostate cancer, with a particular focus on improving Black health equity and supporting primary care teams to identify and manage risk effectively.

Prostate Cancer UK Education
This webinar, led by Dr Sam Merriel, GP and NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer at the Centre for Primary Care and Health Services Research at the University of Manchester, aims to equip primary care professionals with the knowledge and tools to identify high-risk individuals, understand the nuances of PSA testing, and navigate recent changes in diagnostic pathways.
Emphasis will also be placed on recognising and addressing health disparities, particularly among Black men and other high-risk groups. Participants will gain practical strategies to support informed decision-making and improve patient outcomes.
