Haematology

Every 14 minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer and there are an estimated 240,000 people living with blood cancer in the United Kingdom today. Blood cancer is Britian's fifth most common cancer and third biggest killer, claiming more lives each year than breast or prostate cancer.

The overall aim of the Haematology Expert Advisory Group (EAG) is to provide specialist advice and guidance to the West Midlands Cancer Alliance (WMCA) on the standards of service for patients with blood cancers reflecting current best practice and opportunities for development.

The Haematology EAG aims to ensure that patients with blood cancer receive high quality equitable cancer care throughout the West Midlands regardless of geography or socio-economic factors and will, wherever possible, endeavour to improve the standard of care provided.
