Teenage and Young Adults (TYA)

Around 7 young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK.

The overall aim of the Teenage and Young Adults Expert Advisory Group (TYA EAG) is to provide specialist advice and guidance to the West Midland Cancer Alliance on the standards of service for teenagers and young adults with cancer reflecting current best practice and opportunities for development.

The TYA EAG will aim to ensure that patients with cancer receive high quality equitable cancer care throughout the West Midlands regardless of geography or socio-economic factors and will, wherever possible, endeavour to improve the standard of care provided.

Chair:  Mariam Jafri, Consultant Oncologist, University Hospital Birmingham

Deputy Chair: Joanne Maconnachie, Teenage Cancer Trust Lead Nurse, University Hospital of Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust
