Posters will be appearing around Birmingham throughout August as part of a new campaign about the importance of early detection of bowel cancer.

The aim is to make people understand that if they have concerns they should "Tell their GP instead" of friends, family or people they meet while shopping.

Bowel cancer is the UK’s second biggest cancer killer but is treatable and curable if diagnosed early. In some communities, people are far more likely to be diagnosed late - and die - of bowel cancer. ​

Working with local NHS partners, Bowel Cancer UK are running a 12-month early diagnosis programme in the heart of communities with the greatest need.

It is funded nationally by the Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK. ​

The aim is to make people understand that if you have concerns they should "Tell their GP instead" instead of friends, family or people they meet while shopping.

The campaign will also offer education and support for primary care professionals, and awareness stands and talks for community organisations, faith groups and members of the public.
