The Teenage and Young Adult Service are running Regional Study Days for all staff who care for TYAs with cancer in the West Midlands. These days will provide an enhanced and also a holistic overview of the needs of TYA patients, families and staff.

The UK SACT Board (UKSB) provides guidance, oversight and support for the continuing development of SACT services in the UK and is comprised of the six professional bodies with representation from all four nations of the UK and other organisations involved in SACT services and research.
This year, the conference will be jointly chaired by Ruth Hammond & Dr Rosie Roberts who are the Chairs of the UKSB and represent the UK Oncology Nursing Society (UKONS).

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for any staff working within hospital/ palliative care setting/cancer support services across the West Midlands region who have regular contact with patients, to access accredited* Health Coaching Skills training which will equip you with conversational skills in your daily practice to support person-centred care and self-management for patients. The training will give you the opportunity to develop a broad understanding of the principles of health coaching and behaviour change, while providing a practical set of tools that you can apply immediately within your work.
The programme is delivered as two separate day-long workshops, spaced one to two weeks apart to allow for practicing newly acquired skills. It is highly interactive with an emphasis on skill practice and development. It will also offer opportunity for participants to discuss applications of health coaching within their everyday work.

The Supporting cancer care programme can increase your confidence and skills to help you better support people living with cancer. You will receive a comprehensive induction so that you can get off to a good start, and your programme coordinator will be on hand to guide you every step of the way.

You will be part of a group and have your own programme coordinator who will support you throughout the 13-week programme.This course is a mixture of e-learning and virtual online meetings to share experiences. It lasts 13 weeks and has four sets of e-learning, a virtual induction and four virtual classrooms. A course coordinator will facilitate your learning throughout. You will need to put aside 2 hours a week to do the e-learning and 3.5 hours per virtual meeting. This takes around 37 hours of learning time.
