May is Skin Cancer Awareness month, and while you need to be aware of skin cancer year-round, it's particularly important as we prepare for summer.

Skin cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK and worldwide, yet 90% of cases are preventable and almost all cases are curable if detected, diagnosed and treated early.

Education is our most powerful weapon in the fight against the disease and this Skin Cancer Awareness Month, SKCIN - the Skin Cancer UK Charity - are urging everyone to protect their skin daily from UV damage and check their skin monthly for signs of change.

Once you are prepared and ready to begin checking your skin, remember that you are looking for signs of any NEW, UNUSUAL or CHANGING moles or skin lesions. If you spot anything that may be of concern, take a photo, record details, keep track of changes and always see your GP for professional clinical assessment.
