West Midlands Cancer Alliance was proud to present at the 24th British Thoracic Oncology Group (BTOG) Conference, this year held in Edinburgh.

It was a chance to showcase our collaborative work with trusts across the region to strengthen care for patients with rare thoracic malignancies.

The team, including Apurna Jegannethan, Clinical Oncologist and Lung EAG Chair (pictured left), Lakshmi Srinivasan, Thoracic Surgeon and Lung EAG Deputy Chair, and Harry Carpenter, Lung Pathway Lead (pictured right).

They shared progress on developing a regional Thymic MDT, aimed at improving clinical decision‑making and ensuring patients benefit from consistent, specialist input regardless of where they are treated.

Discussions also covered our plans to begin contributing to the UK National Thymic Registry hosted by Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals in the coming months, further embedding the West Midlands’ role in national improvement efforts.

The day also provided a valuable opportunity to connect with colleagues from across the country, many of whom have supported the Alliance’s work as it continues to mature.

With highly engaging sessions throughout, particularly around thoracic surgery, the event reinforced the importance of strong regional networks and shared learning.

We look forward to continuing this work with our partner organisations as we collectively drive forward improvements in cancer pathways across the West Midlands.
