The big red bus will be in Cannock town centre on Wednesday February 4 in association with NHS Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board (ICB).
The bus has toured the West Midlands during the last two years, visiting dozens of community venues or local towns and cities.
It gives people the chance to talk to professionals about the importance of cancer screening, learn how to check themselves for different cancers, receive routine health checks and find support to help them live the healthiest possible life.
Sarah Hughes, WMCA’s Managing Director said: “Fantastic advances have been made in in treating cancer in recent years and we really are placing an emphasis on screening, early diagnosis and treatment in order to get the very best outcomes.”
The event will also include a chance to visit the research van operated by Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT).
Sarah added: "The research landscape is evolving and the presence of the van creates opportunities for people to participate and learn about studies outside of traditional hospital settings.”
Jodie Furby Cancer Service Improvement Manager for the ICB added: “The cancer awareness bus removes many of the barriers people face when accessing healthcare. It gives local residents the chance to drop in, speak to healthcare professionals, receive a free health check, and learn more about cancer screening and the support available locally. Visiting Cannock on World Cancer Day is an important opportunity to raise awareness and support people to take positive steps for their health.”
